Frequently Asked Questions
What does a magazine about color mean anyways?
How can a print-only magazine be more enviromentally responsible than a digital website?
One would think that the web would use less resources, but we know that that always isn't true. For example, AI uses enough energy to power a printing press. Or something to that scale. With a beautifully printed magazine - it is the sort of thing that is both printed in the most eco-conscious way, and something to keep.
Where will Colorphilia be printed?
The magazine will be printed in an American printshop, using best practices for all environmental printing.
If content is sponsored, how can we trust it?
Sponsors receive an advertorial which is clearly labeled. The editorial control of the content in any of the pieces is not controlled by sponsors. Colorphilia reserves the right to reject any sponsor whose brand is either at odds with the content.
What does green include?
It can literally be anything that is somewhat connected to the color green. Think of "green" as a way to start the search, and not where it will end.
How big will the magazine be?
It will be a perfect bound full-color magazine, in a digest size of 5 1⁄2 by 8 1⁄4 inches.
How frequently will Colorphilia be published?
We are aiming for 4 times a year, meaning once a quarter.
Is there any focus of the content?
There will be essays and fiction, lists and recipes, original art and haiku, and probably even more than that. If there is something else that you'd love to see connected to the color green, please email us.
How will the sponsorship money be spent?
The money will be used to pay contributors, editors, and printers. It will not be spent on any online advertising or marketing, on principle. Put plainly, the more we receive in sponsorships, the larger the magazine will be.
What is the distribution strategy?
We will be focused on selling this either on our website or in independent coffee and teashops, boutiques and bookstores.
How many stores will carry Colorphilia?
We are looking to have 200+ stores around the US carry Colorphilia. We are also very interested for stores abroad to carry it.
Who is this written for? Is this for children?
While there is no blantantly "adult" content, Colorphilia Magazine is written for curious adults. There may be a complementary supplement for children as well.
